A non-native disease of banana plants and their fruit. The species of fungi was found growing on a banana at the authors home. The disease was a result of a pre-existing infection obtained as a result of bad storage or handling at time of picking, the disease becoming apparent as the banana ripened under domestic conditions. The greengrocer in Penzance where the bananas were purchased was not really at fault here, but both the wholesaler and greengrocer should have recognized the disease at an early stage and not offered the fruit for sale. 19.10.14.

The main objective of this website is in furthering environmental awareness and education through the medium of photography. To increase awareness and access to the wildlife of the region and help
people find and identify it. The difference between species is rarely obvious, many species can only be determined by observing microscopic characteristics that are specific to any one species.
